Preview
India Women will take on Ireland Women in the opening match of the ODI Series. This match will be played at Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Ground in Rajkot. This series, part of the 2022-2025 future tours programme, will be Ireland's first-ever bilateral tour of India, and the teams' first series against each other since 2006. Ireland have lost all of the 12 ODIs they have played against India so far. The sides last met in the T20 World Cup in 2023, when India won by five runs.
Ireland Women currently placed last in the 10-team table with just three wins and eight points overall after seven concluded series. They will be led by Gaby Lewis. Amy Hunter, wicketkeeper-batter will miss this series due to injury. Ireland Women’s 3-0 T20I series win in Bangladesh recently will give them some hope that they will look to be competitive in this series.
India are currently placed third in the ICC Women's ODI Championship 2022-25 standings with three games in hand, and will eye a second-spot finish behind Australia who already claimed the top spot with their series win in New Zealand last month. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and pacer Renuka Thakur have been rested. Shafali Verma after getting dropped in the Australia One Day Series continues to be on the sidelines. Smriti Mandhana will lead the side in Harmanpreet's absence.
