Preview
Ireland will be up against India in the 1st T20I match of the India Tour of Ireland at Malahide in Dublin on August 18. If it is stats which is to be considered, then Ireland have been in excellent recent form in this format, while India have been just decent enough. Ireland have won three of their last four matches while India have won just two of their previous five, but still, India would be considered favourites to win the series.
Ireland had squared off against Scotland in their last encounter, where Ireland had won the toss and elected to field. Scotland started with a good pace however lost two wickets rather early. The middle order of Scotland further paced up the innings, kept scoring runs consistently, and, due to the whole team’s efforts, was able to put up a massive total of 213 runs on the board. In their chase, Ireland did not start well and lost three wickets quickly, pushing them back. Mark Adair played a fantastic innings of 72 but did not receive enough support from the other end, due to which they lost the match by eight runs.
India had played against West Indies in their last encounter, where India had won the toss and elected to bat. India did not start as they would have hoped for and lost their openers cheaply. Suryakumar and Tilak looked good on the pitch and scored a good amount of runs, but other batters did not contribute at all, which is why India could only manage 165 runs on the board. After losing a wicket early, West Indies did not look back as they had brilliant partnerships and smashed every bowler all around the park. They won the match comfortably by eight wickets.
