Preview
Jersey will be up against Austria in the opening match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier. This match will be played at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburg. Seven teams – Austria, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Jersey and Scotland will go head-to-head in 21 matches over eight days, in the race for two spots in what will be the biggest ICC Men's T20 World Cup ever, in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA) in June 2024.
Austria will be led by Razmal Shigiwal and have a very good squad for this tournament. Mark Simpson-Parker, Ahsan Mirza, Umair Tariq, and Aqib Iqbal are some of the key players from this team. Ahsan Mirza holds the record for the fastest T20I century and a lot of their batting will depend on him. On the other hand, Charles Perchard will captain the Jersey side and Dominic Blampied, Zak Tribe, Jonty Jenner, Nicholas Greenwood, Benjamin Ward will be the players to watch out for and most of their players have experince playing the shorter format. This promises to be a cracking match.
