Preview

Khulna Tigers will lock horns with Rangpur Riders in the 9th match of the Bangladesh Premier League 2024 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on January 26. Khulna Tigers top the table with two wins from two games, while Rangpur Riders have won and lost a game each being placed third in the rankings.

Khulna Tigers squared off against Fortune Barishal in their last match, where Khulna Tigers won the toss and elected to bowl. Barishal did not start well with the bat having lost the first wicket at 14. They had better partnerships for the wickets to follow and also scored at a much better pace. They had posted a strong total of 187 runs on the board. Tigers, in return, were simply sensational right from the start as every batter who came out to bat smashed around bowlers for fun. They easily chased down the total and won the game by eight wickets with two overs to spare.

Rangpur Riders had played against Sylhet Strikers in their last encounter, where Rangpur Riders won the toss and elected to field. Strikers did not start well losing the first wicket at 13 runs. They kept losing wickets one after the other and were reduced to 39 runs for five wickets. However, a good sixth-wicket partnership helped them reach a total of 120 runs. Rangpur Riders were no different, actually were a step ahead as they had lost six wickets at 39 but the seventh wicket 86 runs stand between Babar and Omarzai won them the game by four wickets.
