Lancashire will lock horns with Nottinghamshire in a league match of the Vitality Blast 2023 at Old Trafford in Manchester on May 27. Lancashire have played two matches where they have won both and are sitting at the top of the table in the North Group. Nottinghamshire, on the other hand, have played and won one match and are in the fifth position in the North Group.
Lancashire squared off against Leicestershire in their last encounter, where Leicestershire won the toss and elected to bat. Choosing to bat did not go as planned, as they lost the first wicket on a score of just 16. Every batter struggled on the pitch as only Mulder and Swindells were the only batters who could reach double-digit scores. The team were all out at a mere score of 99 runs in the first innings. The factor of the pitch having its devils was thrown aside when Lancashire came out to bat. Their batters seemed to have a fantastic day, scoring easily and at will. They chased down the total easily in just the 12th over and won the match by eight wickets.
Nottinghamshire played against Derbyshire in their last match, where Derbyshire won the toss and they chose to bat. Derbyshire lost their first wicket cheaply, but a fantastic second-wicket partnership of 112 runs put them back on track. Reece and Madsen scored half-centuries, and some finishing at the end helped them post 178 runs for the loss of six wickets. In reply, Nottinghamshire started really well and had an opening partnership of 58 runs. Joe Clarke scored a fantastic fifty up front and was joined by Matthew Montgomery, who scored a fifty as well. Due to their brilliant batting, Nottinghamshire chased down the total in just 17 overs and won the match by four wickets.
