The Lucknow Super Giants are all set to host the Punjab Kings in the 13th game of the Indian Premier League 2025, slated to take place on April 1 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. It is a clash between the most expensive and the second-most expensive players in IPL history.
For the first time, LSG's new skipper, Rishabh Pant, will be facing his former DC coach, Ricky Ponting, who is a part of PBKS this time. The Indian batting star will be eager to silence his critics and let his bat do the talking in this game. On the other hand, Iyer led PBKS with a match-winning unbeaten 97 in the opening clash. The 2024 IPL-winning skipper is relishing playing at number three and aims to continue in the same vein.
Rishabh Pant and his men will be playing their first game at home and hoping to carry their winning run from their five-wicket win against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last encounter. Top-order batters Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran racked up 52 and 70 runs, respectively, that led their batting attack with the side reaching the target of 191 with four overs to spare.
On the flip side, Punjab Kings were magnificent in their opening clash against Gujarat Titans. Skipper Shreyas Iyer's knock of unbeaten 97 and the fiery knock of star batter Shashank Singh allowed them to post 243 runs in the first innings. The IPL 2022 champions fell short by 11 runs.
The Punjab Kings are off to a blistering start in the cash-rich league this season. However, their bowling attack doesn't look entirely convincing as of now. On the other side, LSG seem to boast firepower with the bat, but their bowling attack is also under scrutiny.
