Preview
Mumbai Indians will take on UP Warriorz in the eliminator game of the first-ever Women’s Premier League on Friday (March 24) at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. Mumbai finished the group stage with six wins out of eight games and failed to qualify directly for the finals due to less net run rate than the Delhi Capitals. Mumbai won their first five games and became the first team to qualify for the playoffs. However, they failed to finish in first place after suffering two consecutive losses. Mumbai found their mojo in their last outing against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. They chased down the target of 126 runs in 16.3 overs with four wickets in hand. New Zealand all-rounder, Amelia Kerr, won the Player of the Match award as she shined with both bat and ball.
The Warriorz won four out of eight games this season and finished in third place in the points table. They won two out of the first five games and lacked match-winning approach. They bounced back at the right time and won two back-to-back games. The Warriorz failed in their last encounter to defend their total of 138 runs. Delhi chased down this target in 17.5 overs with five wickets in hand.
