Preview
Melbourne Renegades will take on Melbourne Stars in the 37th game of the Women’s Big Bash League 2023 on Sunday (November 12) at the Junction Oval in Melbourne. These are two of the bottom-placed teams in the tournament. Stars have won two out of nine games and are in second-last position, while Renegades have managed just a single win in nine matches.
The Renegades have won eight games so far against the Stars out of 14. However, the Stars dominated the Renegades last season and won on both occasions.
Stars faced Sydney Thunder in their last game and lost the game by a mere margin of four runs. They managed to restrict the Thunder to just 125 runs in 20 overs. Sophie Day was the pick of the bowlers, with four wickets for 35 runs in four overs. The batters failed to perform the task at hand and could post only 121 runs on the board at the end of the 20th over. Only four batters managed to make a double-digit score, and none of them crossed the 30-run mark.
Renegades lost their last encounter against Perth Scorchers after managing to post just 133 runs for the loss of five wickets on board. Georgia Wareham played the role of a lone warrior as she scored 57 runs off 46 deliveries. Sophie Devine led the Scorchers’ batting unit, and Beth Mooney kept looking at her from the other end. The duo added 134 runs for the first wicket, from which 70 runs came off Devine’s bat. Scorchers won the game by 10 wickets in 11.2 overs.
