Preview
Leinster Lightning will face off against Munster Reds in the sixth match of the Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy at Mardyke in Cork. Leinster and Munster Reds have both played two matches and have lost miserably.
Leinster lost two games while chasing the target. Importantly, they lost all 10 wickets in chasing. Leinster played against the North West Warriors in their last clash, where they bowled first and picked up three quick wickets at the end of the PowerPlay. A couple of middle-order partnerships extended the run flow and rescued the side until the end to post a total of 180. Therefore, apart from Barry McCarthy, who was outstanding on a day when others went over 8 an over, he picked up 4 wickets by just giving away 12 runs. Coming to their batting department, they lost the first five wickets for 29 runs while chasing. McCarthy scored a quick-fire knock of 27 off 15 at the later stage as he batted below the lower middle order, and Leinster lost this contest.
Munster Reds, in their last encounter, met Northern Knights on a rain-interrupted day, and the overs were reduced to 12. The Reds' batters responded really well. Gareth Delany was promoted as he scored 32 runs, and Murray Commins made 28 not out to reach a total of 106 runs for the loss of five wickets. All the Reds' bowlers went for over ten runs per over, which helped the Northern Knights chase the target and presented a defeat to the Reds.
