Preview

Match 8 of the Super Six Stage of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier will be played between Netherlands and Scotland. Sri Lanka have already qualified for the ICC World Cup 2023, and this game will serve as the virtual qualifier for Scotland and the Netherlands. Scotland have won three out of their four games so far, while the Netherlands have won 2 games so far.

Netherlands squared off against Oman in their last match, which they won by 74 runs by the DLS method. They posted 362 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 48 overs, with Vikramjit Singh scoring his maiden ODI century. Top-order batter Wesley Barresi missed on a well-deserved century as he was dismissed on 97(65). Bas De Leede 39(19) and Saqib Zulfiqar 33(17) played crucial roles for the Netherlands during the final overs. Bilal Khan picked up three wickets, while Mohammad Nadeem grabbed two wickets. While chasing a mammoth target of 363, Oman's top-order batters failed to score big. Ayaan Khan scored 106* off 92 balls, and Shoaib Khan scored 46 runs off 61 balls. Oman were able to score 246 runs for the loss of six wickets in 44 overs. Aryan Dutt scalped three wickets, while Ryan Klein picked up two wickets. The Netherlands will have to win this upcoming game by a significant margin to qualify for the World Cup, as Scotland's NRR is higher than the Netherlands.

Scotland squared off against Zimbabwe in their previous match, where they came out victorious by 31 runs. Scotland posted 234 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs. All-rounder Michael Leask was the highest-scorer with 48 runs off 34 balls. Sean Williams scalped three wickets, while Tendai Chatara picked up two wickets. Zimbabwe were restricted to 37 for four in eight overs. Chris Sole's spell in the powerplay was very much effective as he bagged the wickets of Joylord Gumbie, skipper Craig Ervine, and in-form batter Sean Williams. Chris Greaves dismissed Sikandar Raza on 34(40), and it was almost over for Zimbabwe, but Ryan Burl kept fighting from one end. He got support from another end in the form of Wesley Madhevere, who scored 40 runs off 39 balls. Madhevere was dismissed by Mark Watt in the 31st over. Ryan Burl scored 83 runs off 84 balls, but he lacked support from another end after Madhevere's wicket and was dismissed by Michael Leask. Zimbabwe were bundled out for 203 and were eliminated from the World Cup race.
