Preview
Nepal will lock horns with Singapore in the 1st match of the T20 WC Asia Regional Final 2023 at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on October 30. Nepal are coming off with a brilliant record in the last five matches, where they have won four of them, while Singapore has done well as well, with three wins from five matches.
Nepal squared off against the United Arab Emirates in their last encounter, where UAE won the toss and elected to field. Nepal started off well, with the first wicket lasting for 43 runs in five overs. The scoring rate remained consistent over the innings, with the opener, Kushal Bhurtel, being the leading run-scorer. Nepal posted a good total of 162 runs on the board, in reply to which UAE was off to a flier. They created pressure right from the start with an aggressive scoring rate, which was contained somewhat in the middle overs, but the brilliant start provided by the openers made it easy for them to win the match by four wickets.
Singapore squared off against Thailand in their last encounter, where Singapore won the toss and elected to bat. They had a decent start while scoring at a decent rate, but the fall of the first wicket triggered a mini-collapse, which was taken care of by successive brilliant partnerships for the fourth and fifth wickets. They ended up with 152 runs to their name at the loss of eight wickets. The way Thailand started the chase, they were never really into the game at any point in time. They kept losing wickets consistently, being bowled for just 53 and hence losing the match by 99 runs.
