Preview

Nigeria will be up against Ghana in the 5th match of the West Africa T20I Trophy at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval in Lagos on October 6. Both these countries have played two matches each where they have won both their games and are placed at first and second position respectively.

Nigeria squared off against Sierra Leone in their last match, where Sierra Leone won the toss and elected to bowl. Nigeria started decently but lost two wickets in a row to get under pressure, but Sulaimon Runsewe stood his ground at one end and scored 79 runs while remaining unbeaten. They put up a good total of 155 runs on the board in reply, of which Sierra Leone never really got the start they needed. They kept losing wickets one after the other and soon were bowled out for 92 runs, losing the match by 63 runs.

Ghana had squared off against Rwanda in their last match, where Rwanda won the toss and elected to bat. They did not particularly start well and kept losing wickets where only two of their batters could have a score in double digits, which led the team to a total of 121 runs. Ghana were no better with their chase as well, losing wickets at regular intervals. They, however, took it to the last ball, where the match was tied and then taken to the super over, where Ghana won the match by three runs.
