The 37th match of Vitality Blast 2023 will take place on Friday (June 2) and feature Northamptonshire and Leicestershire. Three of the four games Northamptonshire (NOR) have played have resulted in losses. They lost two games while chasing a 180-plus and 200-plus targets. They are currently positioned just above the lowest performer. On the other hand, Leicestershire (LEI) have lost all four games. Currently, they are placed at the bottom of the points table.
Northamptonshire played against Warwickshire in their last match, where Warwickshire posted a huge total of 202 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs, where David Willey, Tom Taylor, and Andrew Tye picked two wickets each. Freddie Heldreich stemmed the flow of runs by removing Davies and Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell in the space of two balls. With 65 runs off of 39 balls, Ricardo Vasconcelos gave Northamptonshire's chase a quick start. However, NOR lost wickets at regular intervals, making it difficult for them to chase down the total. Willey scored 33 runs in 27 balls, and Lewis McManus scored 29 in 14 balls, but no other batters could make a meaningful impact, which led to Northamptonshire's defeat.
Leicestershire squared off against Derbyshire in their last encounter, where Leicestershire again registered a loss. This loss will be more painful as they came so close to the target of 189 runs and lost by a difference of just two. There are many positives to take from this game for LEI, and one big thing is their middle order and Rehan Ahmad (28 in 14 balls), who fought till the end, which kept them in the game till the final over of the match.
