Nottinghamshire (NOT) will be facing Somerset (SOM) in the 17th match of the County Championship 2023 at Trent Bridge starting on April 13. Nottinghamshire lost their opening match on their return to Division One by eight wickets against Hampshire and are placed at the bottom of the Division One points table. The batters struggled as Nottinghamshire failed to score 200-plus in both innings. New signing Olly Stone debuted with three wickets in the first innings, while Ben Duckett was the only one to score fifty across two innings for Nottinghamshire.

Somerset drew against Warwickshire in their first match after getting bowled out on just 284 runs in their first innings. Captain Luke Gregory scored 65, and new signing Tom Kohler-Cadmore added 34 in the first innings. Jack Leach took four wickets to bowl out Somerset on 392 runs in their first innings. Somerset took two early wickets, but opener Tom Lammonby scored an unbeaten 66 to help Somerset draw the match. Somerset have won four of their last five County Championship matches against Nottinghamshire and are favorites to win this match.
