Nellai Royal Kings encountered Salem Spartans in their last match. Kings won the toss and elected to field. The bowlers managed to keep the run rate slow, as a result of which the top order of Spartans collapsed very quickly, but the middle order tried to cover up for them. The rain interrupted the play, and the match was reduced to 16 overs. With Spartans making 115 runs in 16 overs, the new target for Kings, according to DLS, was 129 runs in 16 overs. Supported by the skipper N Jagdeesan (37) and others, the team came very close but fell short of just one run and lost the match in the nail-biter climax.
