Get ready for an intense clash as New Zealand (NZ) takes on Pakistan (PAK) in the 4th T20I of the Pakistan tour of New Zealand 2024 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. New Zealand are firmly in the driver's seat, leading 3-0 and having already clinched the series with a commanding performance in the third T20I, where they emerged victorious by 45 runs.
Opting to bowl after winning the toss, Pakistan faced an early breakthrough as Devon Conway was dismissed by Haris Rauf for a mere seven runs. However, Finn Allen and Tim Seifert turned the tide with a blazing 125-run partnership. Tim Seifert's dismissal by Mohammad Wasim couldn't stem the flow of runs. Glenn Phillips and the centurion of the day, Finn Allen (scoring 137 runs off 62 balls), propelled New Zealand to a formidable total of 224 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Haris Rauf and Mohammad Wasim played crucial roles in Pakistan's bowling efforts.
In response, Pakistan's Saim Ayub fell early to Tim Southee, and despite glimpses of resistance from Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, the middle order faltered. Babar Azam top-scored with 58 runs but was eventually dismissed by Ish Sodhi. Tim Southee and Mitchell Santner were the architects of Pakistan's downfall, restricting them to 179 runs in 20 overs. Despite a late partnership between Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz, Pakistan fell short. As the series nears its conclusion, both teams will aim for a strong finish in the final T20I at Hagley Oval.
