Preview

New Zealand will be up against South Africa in the warm-up match of the ICC Cricket World Cup at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on October 2. New Zealand and South Africa have both been great in their last three outings, both winning all three of them. It would be a good game of cricket between both these sides.

New Zealand had squared off against Pakistan in their last match, where Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat. Pakistan did not start well, losing their openers cheaply, but the batters to follow turned the match around with their batting performances as they amassed a total of 345 runs. New Zealand did not back off from such a huge chase and started off strongly. Several batters notched up their fifties and made the chase look like a petty total. They won the match comfortably by five wickets with more than six overs to spare.

South Africa had squared off against Australia in their last match, where Australia won the toss and elected to bowl. Being put to bat, Africans started slow and were going ahead cautiously, but as soon as the pair of Aiden Markram and David Miller joined hands, the scoring shot up immediately. With a fantastic finish by Marco Jansen and Andile Phehlukwayo, they put up a strong total of 315 runs. Australia started the chase aggressively and had a good partnership for the third wicket, but other than Marsh and Marnus, no one contributed. As a result, they were bowled out for 193 and lost the match by 122 runs.
