Preview

New Zealand (NZ) will take on Sri Lanka (SL) in the second ODI match of the Series. This match will be played at Basin Reserve in Wellington. Sri Lanka won the T20I series 2-1 and will be high on confidence coming into this ODI leg. New Zealand and Sri Lanka have faced each other in 105 matches in ODI. Out of these 105 games, New Zealand have won 53 whereas Sri Lanka has come out victorious 43 times.

On a Basin Reserve wicket that offered early assistance to the bowlers, New Zealand bowled Sri Lanka out for 178 and chased down the paltry total in just 26.2 overs courtesy an unbeaten 90* from Will Young. Sri Lanka was reduced to 23 for 4 inside 10 overs initally and after the early setback they tried to comeback through an 87-run partnership between Avishka Fernando and Janith Liyanage but in the end it was a below par target and the wicket got better as the match progresses.

Sri Lanka haven't qualified for next month's Champions Trophy so they will be looking to try out some new players and build a combination going forward. They will be keen to bounce back and keep the series alive. This promises to be a thrilling match between these two sides.
