New Zealand Women will lock horns with Sri Lanka Women in the 17th match of Group 1 of the ICC Women’s World Cup at the Boland Park in Paarl on February 19. New Zealand have won just one game while losing two and are placed in the fourth position in the points table. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have quite the opposite stats as compared to their opponents. They have won two, lost one match, and are in second place in the rankings.
New Zealand faced Bangladesh in their last match, where they won the toss and elected to bat. They had a brilliant day on the field with the bat and posted a huge total of 189 runs while losing just three wickets. There were multiple heroes with the bat for New Zealand, but Suzie Bates topped the list with a brilliant knock of 81 while remaining not out. Bangladesh had a huge target and could never actually come into the chase. They could only manage to score 118 runs at the expense of eight wickets after 20 overs, and hence eventually; New Zealand won the match by 71 runs.
In their last game, Sri Lanka faced the defending champions Australia, where Australia won the toss and elected to field. Sri Lanka were a no match for Australia as they could only score 112 for the loss of eight wickets. Megan Schutt was the star bowler for Australia. Australia completely destroyed Sri Lanka as they chased down the score without losing any wickets with 25 balls to spare.
