Preview
Sri Lanka will be up against Pakistan in the 5th match of the Super Four round of the Asia Cup 2023 at the R Premdasa Stadium in Colombo on September 14. Sri Lanka have played two matches in the Super Four stage, where they have won one and are in second place. Pakistan, on the other hand, have won and lost a game at this stage and are third in the rankings.
Sri Lanka had played against India in their last match, where India won the toss and elected to bat. Rohit gave a strong start in yet another match for India, scoring his third consistent fifty. They lost three wickets on a trot after a fantastic start, but a solid fourth-wicket partnership brought them back and helped India post a good total of 213 runs. Sri Lanka did not start well and kept losing wickets right from the start. A great partnership for the seventh wicket did scare India, but India won the match eventually by 41 runs.
Pakistan had squared off against India in their last match, where Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl. Being put to bat, India started brilliantly, with both their openers looking fabulous. They lost both their openers in quick succession, which pushed them back, but Virat and Rahul joined hands to put up a historic partnership. They posted a mammoth total of 356 in reply, of which Pakistan crumbled totally. They were bowled out for a mere total of 128 runs and lost the match by 228 runs.
