Preview
Pakistan will face Ireland in the 10th game of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 on Wednesday (February 15) at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town. Both teams are coming into this game after losing their opening bout against their respective opponents. Pakistan lost the match against India by seven wickets after posting their highest total in T20 World Cup history. Bismah Maroof and Ayesha Naseem played a key role for the team with the bat. Maroof scored her first half-century since December 2019. Naseem made 43 runs off 25 deliveries. With the ball, Nashra Sandhu picked up two wickets, while Sadia Iqbal dismissed one Indian batter.
Ireland played their first game against England. They managed just 105 runs while batting first, with the star batter Gaby Lewis making 36 runs off 37 deliveries. Cara Murray picked up three wickets for 15 runs in three overs. Apart from these two, no other player had any impact on the game. Ireland defeated Australia in the warm-up match and showed that they could upset any opponent on their day.
Ireland toured Pakistan in November last year to play a three-match T20I series. They won the series by a 2-1 margin and will have some advantage in this game. In the T20 World Cup, the two teams have faced each other twice, and Pakistan have emerged victorious in both these encounters.
