Preview
Qatar will lock horns with Kuwait in the 7th match of the Gulf Cricket T20 Championship Qatar at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha on September 18. Qatar have played two games so far in the tournament where they have won and lost a match each. They are ranked fourth in the points table. Kuwait, on the other hand, have played two games as well and have won both.
Qatar had last squared off against Oman where Oman won the toss and elected to bat. Oman did not particularly start as they would have wished for. They kept losing wickets from the start and had already lost four wickets within the powerplay. It was the middle order which did the heavy lifting and took the team’s total to 149 runs. Qatar started on a good opening stand of 50 runs but somehow were not able to convert the start into a good result later as they fell short of the target by 19 runs and lost the match.
Kuwait had played off against Bahrain in their last game where Kuwait won the toss and elected to bowl. Bahrain started well with an opening partnership of 42 runs with both their openers looking good. The middle order however could not pick up from where the openers left and lost wickets in bunch. Muhammad Rizwan provided a brilliant finish towards the end due to which they were able to put up 123 runs on the board. Kuwait started horribly losing both their openers on ducks but an unbeaten partnership of 125 runs for the third wicket meant they won the match comfortably by eight wickets.
