Preview

Rawalpindi will lock horns with Abbottabad in the 1st match of the Super Eight round of the National T20 Cup 2023 at the United Bank Limited Sports Complex in Karachi on December 1. Rawalpindi won all their matches in the league and finished top of the table in Group C while Abbottabad won two of their three games to finish second in Group C.

Rawalpindi squared off against Bhawalpur in their last encounter where Bhawalpur won the toss and elected to bowl. Being put to bat, Rawalpindi started off brilliantly with the opening pair adding 99 runs in 11 overs. They lost a couple of wickets but did not let the scoring rate go down, which helped them post a mammoth total of 232 runs on the board. Bahawalpur started a little too cautiously and took 10 overs to score 80 runs. They also kept losing wickets frequently, which was hampering their scoring rate and eventually lost the match by 37 runs.

Abbottabad played against Faisalabad in their last match, where Abbottabad won the toss and they elected to bowl. Faisalabad started a little slow after being put to bat with the opening pair adding just 24 runs. They kept losing wickets, due to which they could increase their scoring rate and were eventually bowled out for 143. Abbottabad too could not start well and had lost two wickets rather early, but it was followed by two back-to-back good partnerships, which put them up in a commanding position. They reached their target easily from there on, winning the match by six wickets with nine balls to spare.
