Preview
Rwanda will be up against Uganda in the 17th match of the East Africa Cup 2023 at the Gahanga International Cricket Stadium in Rwanda on August 31. Rwanda have played nine games where they have won just one and are last in the rankings. Uganda, on the other hand, have won as many as 10 of their 11 matches and leads the points table.
Rwanda had played against Tanzania in their last encounter, where Rwanda won the toss and elected to field. Tanzania had a decent start, with their openers playing some good shots. It was further carried on by the middle order, who did well and with the help of a fantastic finish towards the end, they piled up 159 runs in the first innings. Rwanda did not take the chase well, as they lost wickets upfront. They were unable to form partnerships, which came to haunt them later as they were bundled out just for a total of 98 runs. Tanzania won the match by 61 runs.
Uganda squared off against Tanzania in their last match, where Tanzania, who elected to field, won the toss. Uganda lost their first wicket in the very first over but had an excellent second-wicket partnership to make a comeback. However, after that, they kept losing wickets regularly and could only make 141 runs. Tanzania, in reply, were even worse, but due to a couple of good cameos, they were able to score 122 before being bowled out and lost the match by 19 runs.
