Preview
South Africa will be up against Australia in the 2nd T20I match of the Australia Tour of South Africa at the Kingsmead in Durban on September 1. There were a lot of youngsters playing for both nations in the first match, which Australia dictated, and they won the game emphatically. South Africa would be charged to make a comeback in the next match and level the series.
The last match between the two teams was played at the same venue where South Africa won the toss and elected to field. This decision never proved to be the correct one right from the start. Australia lost Travis Head early, but that did not stop them from the carnage ahead. Mitchell Marsh, along with Matthew Short, played some excellent shots, which set up Australia for a good total, which was achieved by a match-defining partnership between Marsh and Tim David. They made Australia reach a stellar total of 226 runs by the end of the innings.
In order to chase down such a huge total, South Africa needed to have a good start, which was, unfortunately, something they could not have. They lost Temba Bavuma early, but Rassie and Hendricks tried to stitch together a good partnership. However, once the partnership broke, it opened floodgates for them as they kept losing wickets one after the other. Only three players could score in double digits, and eventually, the team was bowled out for a mere total of 115 runs, with Australia winning the match by an emphatic margin of 111 runs.
