Preview
South Africa Women will lock horns with New Zealand Women in the 2nd match of the New Zealand Women's tour of South Africa at the City Oval in Pietermaritzburg on September 28. South Africa Women started the home series well with a win in the first match and would be looking to seal the series with a win in this one.
Both these teams had squared off against each other in the first match of the series at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, where South Africa Women won the toss and elected to bowl. New Zealand did not start well and lost their first wicket on just the score of five runs. They were quite slow with their scoring rate as well. By the time they reached 20 overs, they had scored just 55 runs and had lost five of their wickets when their lower middle order decided to come into play and turned things around as they posted a good total of 235 runs on the board.
South Africa Women were not too great with their start as well, losing their first wicket in the first over itself. Opener Laura Wolvaardt stood her ground from one end as she scored a fantastic fifty, and her team kept losing wickets at regular intervals from the other end. It was the miraculous partnership of Nadine de Klerk and Chloe Tryon that changed the course of the chase for South Africa as they not only made a comeback but won the match by four wickets with almost three overs to spare.
