Preview

Scotland will lock horns with West Indies in the 3rd match of the Super Sixes round of the ICC World Cup Qualifier 2023 at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on July 1. Scotland had won three of their four matches and finished the league stage in the second position in Group B. West Indies, on the other hand, have won and lost two matches each from four games and finished in the third position in Group A.

Scotland had played against Sri Lanka in their last match, where Scotland won the toss and elected to field. Sri Lanka started decently, although soon they started losing wickets at regular intervals. Good fourth and fifth-wicket partnerships brought them back on track, which included half-centuries by Nissanka and Asalanka. They had put up a decent total of 245 runs on the board. Scotland had started somewhat in the same way as their counterparts, but they lacked some good partnerships in the middle overs. A few players got the starts but could not convert them into bigger totals and, as a result, were bowled out for 163, and Sri Lanka won the match by 82 runs.

West Indies had squared off against the Netherlands in their last match, where the Netherlands won the toss and elected to field. The game was something that could advertise the brand of cricket to the world. Being put to bat, West Indies made the most of it and smashed 374 runs on the board. The Netherlands did not back down and had a promising start which was helped by some match-winning contributions from the middle order. However, as fate would have it, the match got tied on the very last ball of the innings, and the game went to the super over, where Logan van Beek decimated Jason Holder to score 30 runs off the over. As expected, West Indies could not chase it down, and the Netherlands had a thrilling victory.
