Preview

Sri Lanka will be up against Afghanistan in the 3rd Quarterfinal match of the Asian Games Cricket at the Zhejiang University of Technology Cricket Field in Hangzhou on October 4. Both countries would be playing their second-string sides as their primary sides are occupied at the ODI World Cup. This would be a good test of bench strength for both these teams.

Sri Lanka squared off against New Zealand in their last match, where New Zealand won the toss and elected to field. Sri Lanka had a great start, scoring heavily right from the top. Everyone from the top order scored well, due to which the Sri Lankan team was able to put up a strong total of 182 runs on the board. New Zealand, in reply, had an even better show with the bat where Tim Seifert led the chase and won his team the game in a close encounter by four wickets.

Afghanistan had squared off against Bangladesh in their last match, where Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field. The match was interrupted by rain, due to which it was reduced to 17 overs a side. Afghanistan did not start well and scored at a decent run rate throughout the innings, due to which they were able to put up 116 runs on the board. Bangladesh, on the other hand, started strongly, and their top order had set them up for a good chase. They were able to easily chase down the total and won the match by six wickets (DLS method).
