Preview

Sri Lanka will take on Australia in the opening ODI match of the Australian tour of Sri Lanka. This match will be played at RPS Stadium in Colombo. The matches will be played on February 12 and 14 respectively with Colombo being the venue for both games. The ODIs shall be day games with a 10 am local start time and both these teams will be keen to put up a good show.

While Sri Lanka are not part of Champions Trophy they will be keen to build a side for the upcoming big tournaments. They have left out seam-bowling all-rounder Chamindu Wickramasinghe from the squad that toured New Zealand and have retained the other 16 players. They are a very strong side at home and beat India in these conditions last year.

On the other hand, this series provides a very good oppurtunity for Australia to play on some turning wickets and prepare themselves for the upcoming Champions Trophy. Australia will look fine-tune their tactics and team combinations. With Cummins, Hazlewood, Stoinis out of Champions Trophy this series also provides some fringe players to put up their name in the hat. This promises to be a thrlling match.
