Preview

Sri Lanka will lock horns with Scotland in the 19th match of the ICC World Cup Qualifier 2023 at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on June 27. Sri Lanka have won three games and are at the top of the table in Group B. Scotland, on the other hand, have a similar record and are in the second position in Group B.

Sri Lanka had played against Ireland in their last match, where Ireland won the toss and elected to field. Sri Lanka started well even after losing two wickets in quick succession due to a massive third-wicket partnership. Karunaratne was the star performer with the bat smashing his first-ever century, which helped Sri Lanka post a massive total of 325 runs on the board. Ireland were slow to the chase and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Several of their batters got starts, but none of them were able to convert it into bigger scores, and hence Ireland were bowled out at 192, which meant Sri Lanka won the match by a huge margin of 133 runs.

Scotland had squared off against Oman in their last match, where Oman won the toss and elected to field. Being put to bat, Scotland had lost their first wicket on a duck but had a revolutionary comeback owing to brilliant second and third-wicket partnerships. Brandon McMullen was the chief destroyer for Scotland hitting 136 off 121 balls. Scotland had given Oman a huge target of 321 runs to chase down, the start of which was definitely not what Oman would have expected. They showed some brilliant resistance towards the end, but it was not sufficient as Scotland won the match by 76 runs.
