Preview
Southern Rocks will lock horns with Mashonaland Eagles in the 13th match of the Zimbabwe T20 at the Old Hararians in Harare on February 25. Southern Rocks have won three games from the four they have played and are in second place in the points table. Mashonaland Eagles, on the other hand, have won and lost two matches each and are third in the standings.
Rocks played their last game against Mountaineers, where Rocks won the toss and chose to field. Mountaineers came out to bat all guns blazing and put up an excellent show scoring 209 runs at the loss of seven wickets in the first innings. Shingi Masakadza provided an excellent finishing touch with his bat, scoring at a strike rate of 262.50. Mountaineers would have felt that they had scored enough but were proven wrong by Rocks. They lost only two wickets and chased down the target with ten balls to spare. There were multiple heroes in the chase for Rocks as they won by six wickets.
Eagles squared off against Mid West Rhinos in their last encounter, where they won the toss and chose to field. Rhinos batted brilliantly and put up a strong total of 171 at the expense of eight wickets. Jonathan Campbell was the highest scorer for the Rhinos. Eagles came out positively to chase the target but lost wickets regularly and, as a result, had lower scoring run-rate. They eventually fell short by 18 runs and lost the match.
