The qualifier 2 match between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2023 is set to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday (May 26). GT finished in first place in the points table this season with ten wins in 14 games. MI won eight out of 14 matches and are in fourth place in the points tally.
In the last game, GT faced Chennai Super Kings, where they won the toss and elected to bowl. CSK made 172 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs with the help of an opening partnership of 87 runs between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway. GT made a couple of changes to their batting order, but that didn't help them. Gill scored 42 runs off 38 deliveries and tried to help the team cross the line. In the end, GT could make only 157 runs in 20 overs and lost the game by 15 runs.
MI faced Lucknow Super Giants in their previous outing, where they won the toss and elected to bat. The middle order did a great job for MI and helped them reach a total of 182 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. LSG could score only 101 runs in 16.3 overs before getting all out and lost the game by 81 runs. Akash Madhwal picked five wickets for five runs in 3.3 overs and won the Player of the Match award.
In their IPL encounters thus far, GT and MI have crossed paths on three occasions. During the current season, they have met twice. In their most recent clash, GT emerged victorious against MI with a commanding 55-run margin, having posted a formidable total of 207 runs while losing six wickets in the process.
