Preview
Zimbabwe will be up against Tanzania in the 5th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier 2023 at the United Cricket Club Ground in Windhoek on November 23. Both these teams have played one match so far in the tournament, which they both have lost and occupy sixth and fifth place in the rankings, respectively.
Zimbabwe squared off against Namibia in their last match, where Namibia won the toss and elected to bowl. On an excellent deck to bat on, Zimbabwe did not start as they would have wished for. They lost three wickets within three overs, which pushed them back in the match. They were somehow able to post a total of 132 runs on the board. Comparative to their opponents, Namibia was sensational in their start as they had an opening stand of 88 runs. The chase was just a formality then, which was soon completed as they won by seven wickets.
Tanzania had played against Uganda in their last encounter, where Uganda won the toss and elected to bowl. Being put to bat, Tanzania was really slow and sloppy on the pitch from the start. They were unable to find boundaries or even rotate strikes and kept losing wickets. They did play their quota of 20 overs but were only able to score 99 runs. Uganda also started slowly but since the target was not too huge, they could take their time. They had an unbeaten stand of 74 runs for the third wicket, which proved to be a match-winning one for them as they won the game by eight wickets.
