Preview
United Arab Emirates will lock horns with Bahrain in the 2nd match of the T20 WC Asia Regional Final 2023 at the Mulpani Cricket Ground in Kathmandu on October 30. Bahrain has done well to secure three wins from their last five matches, while the United Arab Emirates have been quite ordinary with just two wins from five games.
United Arab Emirates squared off against Nepal in their last encounter, where UAE won the toss and elected to field. Nepal started off well, with the first wicket lasting for 43 runs in five overs. The scoring rate remained consistent over the innings, with the opener, Kushal Bhurtel, being the leading run-scorer. Nepal posted a good total of 162 runs on the board, in reply to which UAE was off to a flier. They created pressure right from the start with an aggressive scoring rate, which was contained somewhat in the middle overs, but the brilliant start provided by the openers made it easy for them to win the match by four wickets.
Bahrain squared off against the United Arab Emirates in their last encounter, where Bahrain won the toss and elected to bat. Bahrain started decently and was scoring with a good run rate. The most important part of the innings was the partnership for the fourth wicket, where they amassed 62 runs and formed a good base to carry on. They posted a good target of 151 for the UAE, for which they started the chase well. By the end of 11 overs, they had already scored 87 runs and looked in command when Bahrain bowlers made a brilliant comeback in the last few overs to restrict them to 147 and win the match by just three runs.
