Uganda Women will take on Zimbabwe Women in the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier 2023 on Sunday (December 17) at the Entebbe Cricket Oval in Entebbe. They have played nine matches so far against each other, out of which Zimbabwe have won eight.
Uganda Women have won all three matches so far and are in second position in the points tally. They defeated Tanzania Women in their last game by 10 runs after posting a total of just 99 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Stephani Nampiina made 51 runs off 53 deliveries and was the highest scorer. Only three batters managed to make a double-digit score for Tanzania, and they were bundled out for 89 runs. Janet Mbabazi and Rita Musamali took three wickets each for Uganda.
Zimbabwe also won three games and finished in first place in the points tally. Zimbabwe defeated Namibia in the semi-final game by 86 runs after posting a total of 150 runs for the loss of six wickets. Modester Mupachikwa scored 33 runs off 37 deliveries and was the highest scorer. Namibia were all out for 64 runs in 16.2 overs. Precious Marange picked three wickets for nine runs in four overs.
