Preview

Warwickshire will lock horns with Nottinghamshire in the 42nd match of the Vitality Blast 2023 at the Edgbaston in Birmingham on June 3. Warwickshire have won four out of five matches and are placed in the second position in the rankings of the North Group. On the other hand, Nottinghamshire have been able to win just two of their five matches and are placed seventh in the standings of the North Group.

Warwickshire had played against Derbyshire in their last match, where Warwickshire won the toss and they chose to field. Derbyshire started well with a decent scoring rate. They did not lose too many wickets in the middle overs and could push their scoring rate towards the end of the innings. Tom Wood provided an excellent finish, which helped Derbyshire post a total of 174 runs for the loss of five wickets. Warwickshire, in reply, did not have a good start as they had already lost four wickets in the powerplay just for the score of 43. A good sixth wicket partnership was formed, but they could never really recover from the early setbacks, and as a result, Derbyshire won the match in the end by 17 runs.

Nottinghamshire squared off against Worcestershire in their last encounter, where Nottinghamshire won the toss and elected to field. It was almost a dream innings from Worcestershire batters as almost whoever came out to bat seemed to have a good day. They had an opening partnership of 98 runs within seven overs, and with continuous batting efforts, they posted a mammoth total of 226 runs. In the chase, Nottinghamshire did have a good start; other than their openers, nobody came off to the chase. Only three of their batters could reach a double-digit score, and the team was bowled out on a score of 170. Worcestershire won the match easily by 56 runs.
