Western Australia (WAU) will clash against Queensland (QUN) in the ninth match of the Sheffield Shield 2022/23 season at WACA Ground in Perth starting from Monday (October 31). Western Australia, current champions, drew with Victoria in the last match after beating New South Wales in their opening game. Hilton Cartwright smashed two fifties against Victoria in the last game with Western Australia scoring 466/10 and 185/5 in their respective innings. Victoria declared their first innings at 616/4 after a poor bowling performance from Western Australia's bowlers. 

Queensland also drew with New South Wales in their last game after an impressive win in their opening clash against Tasmania. Queensland declared their innings on 477/6 while replying to New South Wales' 246 total in the first innings. Opener Matt Renshaw smashed an unbeaten 200 and Michael Neser scored 136 runs off just 172 balls. Mitchell Swepson took three wickets and added five more in the second innings while Neser took five wickets combined to guide Queensland to the top of the table.
