Preview
India will be up against West Indies in the third T20I match of the India Tour of West Indies at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on August 8. They have already played two matches in the series, which were quite interesting at the end of which West Indies managed to clinch victory on both these occasions. India now finds themselves in a do-or-die situation where they must win this match to keep themselves alive in the tournament.
Both the teams squared off against each other in the second T20I match of the series, which was played at the same stadium where India won the toss and elected to bat. Keeping their trend alive, India did not start well and lost Shubhman Gill early. Owing to a run-out, Suryakumar Yadav joined him soon too. The pair of Tilak and Kishan then went on to stitch together a partnership that lasted a while, and where Tilak went on to score his maiden T20I fifty. He got a little assistance from the Indian lower order, due to which India could post a decent total of 152 runs on the board.
West Indies were not too far away from India as well, as they lost two wickets just for the score of two runs. Captain Pandya gave India a good start, but in-form Nicholas Pooran was in the mood to steal the thunder as he slammed another fifty and put his team up in a good position. The Indian bowling attack, however, did a good job of pulling back the game by scalping four wickets together. Towards the end, the match got extremely interesting as West Indies were left with just two wickets to chase down the total, and Alzarri Joseph and Akeal Hosein did not disappoint them. West Indies won another nail-biter by a small margin of two wickets.
