Preview
Just a week after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup in Barbados, the Men in Blue are all set to hit the field yet again as the side is slated to lock horns against Zimbabwe for the first match of the T20I series on July 6 at Harare Sports Club. A second-string India has landed in Zimbabwe for the series, and young batter Shubman Gill will lead the side this time.
Notably, the BCCI also included three World Cup-winning players on the Zimbabwe tour, but they had to be withdrawn from the first and second T20Is. The star cricketers Shivam Dube, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Sanju Samson will join the side ahead of the third T20I.
Meanwhile, the upcoming T20I series seems to be a golden opportunity for the youngsters to do well and retain their spot in the national squad. Now it seems that after the retirement of three legendary cricketers, the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja, there are three vacant spots in the T20I team, and the youngster has a great chance to get a place in the 2026 T20 World Cup, where the side will be looking to defend their title.
The upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe is set to commence in the new era of T20I cricket and on the road to the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will start in Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is expected to take over India's full-time role, starting the series against Sri Lanka.
