Preview
Zimbabwe will be up against Ireland in the 1st T20I of the Ireland tour of Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on December 7. Zimbabwe has been in good form recently in this format, with four wins from five matches in the last five games, while Ireland needs to pull up their socks with three back-to-back losses in the last three games.
Zimbabwe had squared off against Kenya in their last game where Kenya won the toss and elected to field. Zimbabwe batters were on song that day as the opening stand lasted for 88 runs. It was followed by brilliant back-to-back partnerships as well, with Sikander and Sean smashing half-centuries. A brilliant display of batting skills led them to post a mammoth total of 217 runs. Chasing such a huge total, Kenya got nervous and lost early wickets. They stabilised for a bit and then again kept losing wickets. They lost the game by a huge margin of 110 runs.
Ireland had played against India in their last encounter where Ireland won the toss and elected to field. India started decently but had lost two wickets in powerplay. Ruturaj and Sanju stitched together a fantastic partnership worth 71 runs, which put India in the driver’s seat. They also got the finish they were looking for and finished with 185 runs in the bank. Ireland had a poor start, losing early wickets and scoring at a very slow pace. Andy Balbirnie played a good knock but did not receive much support, so they lost the game by 33 runs.
