Preview
Zimbabwe will lock horns with Nepal in the 1st match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on June 18. This will be the first match for both teams in this qualifier stage, and both teams would like to win the match and gain early momentum. Zimbabwe have won two of their last five matches and seem in decent form. On the other hand, Nepal are in brilliant form, winning all five of their matches.
Zimbabwe had squared off against the Netherlands in their last match, where the Netherlands won the toss and elected to bat. The Netherlands started really well, with both their openers scoring good runs. Their middle order helped and scored some useful runs in the middle overs as well. There was not a single high scorer, but the team managed to post 231 runs on the board. In reply, Zimbabwe were simply brilliant with the bat. They lost only three wickets in the chase, and every batter that came out to bat had a good day on the field. As a result, Zimbabwe won the match easily by seven wickets with more than eight overs to spare.
Nepal had played against UAE in their last encounter, where Nepal won the toss and elected to field. Being put to bat, UAE had a match they would like to forget as soon as possible. Only four of their batters could score in double digits, with Asif Khan scoring the bulk of those runs. Lalit Rajbanshi had a fantastic match as he scalped four wickets, and UAE were bundled out for a meager total of 117 runs. Nepal lost a couple of wickets early but had no problems chasing down the total. Nepal chased the total with 20 overs to spare and won the match by seven wickets.
