Preview

Zimbabwe Women will lock horns with Ireland Women in the 3rd ODI match of the Ireland Women Tour of Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on January 23. Ireland Women lead the series 1-0. They won the first game of the series, while the second game ended up in a tie by DLS Method.

These teams had last squared against each other in the second game of this series, which was played at the same venue where Ireland Women won the toss and elected to field. Zimbabwe, being put to bat started off on a very good note as they had an opening partnership worth 92 runs. They lost two wickets in quick succession there but still had good partnerships for the second and third wickets, respectively. However, the middle order to follow could not capitalise on it much and kept losing wickets. They could only score 227 runs by the end.

Before the chase could get started, the rain arrived and the match had to be reduced to 43 overs a side with the new target being 203 runs. Ireland, similar to their opponents, started off really well and had an opening stand of 84 runs. The openers scored the bulk of the runs for the team while there were a couple of decent knocks by others as well but they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The match got extremely interesting towards the end and what seemed like an interesting finish for Ireland, they lost two wickets on the last two balls and the match ended up in a tie.
