Ravi Ashwin is one of the funniest cricketers despite his serious demeanor and on-field aggression. The Tamil Nadu bowler was recently seen on the cricket ground in the first Test between India and New Zealand at Basin Reserve in Wellington. He picked three wickets, but couldn’t manage to come good with the bat when runs were needed from the lower order.
Ashwin has always ruffled the feathers in the cricketing world especially after his Mankading of Jos Buttler when Rajasthan Royals took on Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2019 in Jaipur. This led to him being criticized for his mode of dismissing Buttler, though he received support as well. Ashwin continued to say that he will mankad batsmen something that is under ICC and MCC rules.
“Putting the break in bowling and beards” – Ravi Ashwin
However, recently, he took to his Instagram and shared a hilarious CV of himself, highlighting his skills, hobbies, interests and his description in a funny way. It was part of the Break the Beard promotion and everything was over the top in his bio as well. His nickname was “Log pyar se baller bulate hain” and description read, “Mujhe dekh kar ladies sing, dekho jaa rha hai Chennai ka super king”.
He included “Putting the break in bowling and beards” and “Sending opponents to the pavilion” to his interests and skills. His hobbies included playing carrom and knocking people out since 2010. His interests included playing wicket games, spinning hearts and breaking records and his beard. Such kind of creative answers to simple questions led to fans clamoring for more and even asked him to add ‘Mankading’ to his interests and skills on his CV.
The right-arm off-spinner has 365 wickets in 71 Tests and 150 scalps in 111 ODIs. He also has 52 wickets in 46 T20 international matches. He also has made 2389 runs in Tests with four centuries and 11 half-centuries to his name. However, when India prepares to play New Zealand in the second Test match in Christchurch, it remains to be seen whether Team India management decides to go with him or swap him with Ravindra Jadeja, who is in better batting form than Ashwin.
