5. Yuzvendra Chahal:
There is always a handful of spinners in Indian cricket considering the rich vein of history in the spin department for the country. One after the other, they just keep showing up with different expertise. The latest to catch the eye is Yuzvendra Chahal. Small in stature, the leg-spinner had been known to playing in the IPL before the series against England and had limited chances in the Indian team.
The leading spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were rested for the T20s because of the important Test series coming up against Australia. Chahal was scooped in as the spinner alongside Amit Mishra and Parvez Rasool. In the first game, he was picked in the XI ahead of Mishra and turned up with impressive figures of 27/2 dismissing both openers in the same over.
He opened the bowling in the next game but went wicketless. Then, came the spell of his life in the last T20 at Bengaluru. He bagged 6 wickets and became the first Indian bowler to take a fifer in the T20Is and also registered the best figures by an Indian in the format with 25/6. He was simply magnificent with his variations and inflicted a massive collapse of the English batting that gave India another series win. With bowlers like Chahal, Indian team can rest assured of quality in the spin prowess.
