Ahead of the closure of the trade window, Mumbai Indians have grabbed many eyeballs due to their latest deal. In a move, considered to be a game-changer for Mumbai Indians, left-arm speedster Trent Boult was snapped up by the franchise for the upcoming IPL season.
Twitter erupted by the announcement of Trent Boult joining Mumbai Indians as many fans considered this deal as one of the highlights of the trade window. Mumbai Indians have strengthened their bowling attack with the influx of Boult to their side. The New Zealand speedster made his IPL debut in 2014 and played for the Capitals in the 2018 and 2019 season. Boult has scalped 38 wickets from 33 games in his IPL career. Mumbai Indians, who were in the hunt for a left-arm pacer to complement Jasprit Bumrah, were triumphant to finally end their search.
Apart from Boult, Mumbai Indians were successful to get hold of Sherfane Rutherford too. The hard-hitting southpaw is expected to notch up Mumbai’s batting line-up. After Mumbai Indians announced the transfer of Boult on their official Twitter account, Bumrah welcomed the pacer with both hands. The 25-year-old stated that he was looking forward to playing with the Kiwi pacer. “Look forward to playing with you too,” wrote Bumrah on Mumbai Indians’ announcement post of Boult.
Mumbai will develop a formidable bowling attack
Boult has played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad and now-defunct Delhi Daredevils who have been converted to DC. Boult, along with Jasprit Bumrah will bolster Mumbai’s bowling attack. The two speedsters are expected to complement each other very well and are labeled to emerge as a match-winning duo for their side.
Mumbai will now have a formidable bowling line-up comprising the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga, Jason Behrendorff, Mitchell McClenaghan and Boult. It will be interesting to see how Rohit Sharma utilizes his bowlers in the upcoming IPL season. The IPL 2020 auction will be held in Kolkata on December 19, where Mumbai Indians will be eager to snap other prominent players too.
