Mustafizur Rahman has been peaking at the right time as far the Bangladeshi supporters are concerned. The Bangladeshi prodigy has been lacking his sting in the recent past but showed glimpses of his return to form when he scalped seven wickets in three matches in the tri-series involving New Zealand and Ireland. He said that he was happy with his exploits in the tri-series but couldn’t get his yorkers as consistently as he wanted them and was looking to make them more effective.
“I am happy with the way things went in the tri-series. It was bad luck that we did not get the opportunity to bowl in the first match due to rain, but I am happy with the performance in the other three matches. I enjoyed bowling,” Mustafizur told The Daily Star over the phone yesterday.
The “Fizz” as he is popularly called, is shining at the right time for Bangladesh ahead of their campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy next week. The team, led by Mashrafe Mortaza will be looking for the team’s first ever ICC title and Mustafizur will be a keen involvement in the proceedings.Mortaza said during a press conference that he would play a big role in the Champions Trophy. Mortaza said during a press conference that he would play a big role in the Champions Trophy. Tamim Iqbal, the swashbuckling left-hander was also of the opinion that his return to form is a big plus point ahead of the tournament. “Everything was okay. I almost got back my bowling rhythm and there are no complaints. The only issue which I will need to fix is my yorkers. I was unable to make them effective and this is an area I am looking forward to improving and I hope it will be okay very soon,” Mustafizur said.
The young left-arm pacer made headlines when he first burst onto the international scene through his off-cutters and deceptive swing. The whole of Bangladesh will be hoping he will replicate the same amount of “fizz”, pun intended, which he displayed in the initial part of his international career.
