Love watching Virat Kohli play: Kane Williamson
The newly appointed New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson recently spoke on various topics in a press conference in New Delhi. The Kiwi captain spoke on how the team is preparing for the Indian challenge and also showered words of praise for Virat Kohli.
Speaking on his counterpart Williamson said that he admires the way Kohli dominates all formats of the game. He went on to admit that he loves watching him play and can learn a lot from him.
“Virat Kohli’s a great player. His ability to dominate the way he does across formats is something very special and certainly something that I admire. I love watching him play and you can learn a lot from a player like that,” quoted Kane Williamson.
He further spoke on the other two young guns – Steve Smith and Joe Root – who are dominating the world cricket at the moment. He tagged them as different players with different strengths. This uniqueness yields them success.

“You mentioned the other names- Steve Smith and Joe Root. Both great players as well. They are different players and have different strengths. Trying to stick to their own game plans and that I suppose that is the beauty of the game that everyone can do it differently and have some success,” added Williamson.
Commenting on the turning Indian wickets and the preparation of the side, Williamson believes his team is ready. He cited the strength of their spinners. Meanwhile, he also admitted the fact that India is a tough team to beat at home. He went on to add that the Kiwi team is very excited for this challenge.
“We have our three very good spinners as well. It should be a good contest. We know it will be a challenge. India in their home is one of the toughest challenges in the game, particularly in the Test format. So the team are excited to get involved and look to adapt, having come from South Africa, Zimbabwe where conditions are quite different,” said the New Zealand captain.
He also admitted that the IPL experience will help the players to adapt to the conditions. However, he feels that the wickets might be different as the formats change. He was quick to cite the changing nature of Indian tracks in the last year or so.
“The IPL is a fantastic experience. A number of guys in this side have been a part of that for a few years and no doubt that will help, although the format is different. We will have to prepare well. The pitches here in the last year or so have been different to the one that we have played in the IPL. So we will need to take that into account,” he conceded.
New Zealand will play 3 Tests and 5 ODIs on their tour. The first Test kicks off on September 22 at Kanpur.
