LSG locking horns with PBKS on March 30, 2024, at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
Punjab Kings have been the most inconsistent team in the IPL since 2014 as they have never progressed into the playoffs for nine consecutive seasons. They would look to go back to winning ways. The last time they progressed in the playoffs was way back in 2014 when they ended the season as runners-up, getting defeated by the Kolkata Knight Riders by 3 wickets with 3 balls remaining.
Lucknow Super Giants, on the other hand, had a good debut season to remember, as they won nine out of fourteen games and were placed third in the table despite sharing an equal number of wins with the Rajasthan Royals, courtesy of having a slightly lesser net run-rate. They failed to go past the Eliminator as they lost against RCB by a margin of 14 runs. KL Rahul enjoyed the season by being the second-highest run-getter in the tournament, with 616 runs to his name. He, along with Quinton de Kock, registered a record 210-run partnership for the first wicket against KKR. After finishing in the third position in the 2023 edition as well as getting eliminated in the Eliminator, much like the 2022 season, KL Rahul-led Lucknow would look to better their performances when it comes to the playoffs.
