Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are at the pole position in the IPL 2022 points table with eight wins in 11 league matches. In their last appearance, they won by 75 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Currently, they are facing the Gujarat Titans (GT) at MCA Pune. Ahead of this fixture, the former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer shared his views on the current form of LSG.
Jaffer reckoned that the bowling unit has performed quite well for the team and Deepak Hooda has been scoring in a consistent manner at the number three position. He felt that the team has been competitive throughout the tournament, and even their losses have gone down to the wire. The former batter added that the likes of Mohsin Khan and Krunal Pandya have been terrific, and have bolstered the bowling attack.
“I think their bowling has improved a lot and the instability in the number three position has been resolved. At this moment, they are certainly a team to beat. They have never lost any matches as a one-sided affair, and almost all the matches have gone down to the wire, and in fact, won by a big margin in their last game. I feel they are peaking at the right, and the addition of Mohsin Khan and the form of Krunal Pandya has strengthened the bowling attack,” said Jaffer on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket’ Show on CricTracker.
Lucknow Super Giants have got enough bowling options: Wasim Jaffer
Jaffer thinks the Giants captain KL Rahul has got enough bowling options in the current Playing XI. He mentioned the fact that the bowlers are in top form with all the six key bowlers having more than eight wickets in the tournament. The former batter further added that Rahul has the luxury of changing his bowlers if someone is having a bad day at the office.
“If you look at LSG’s bowling attack, KL Rahul has got eight-nine options. The economy of both pacers and spinners is less. Their 6 bowlers have got more than eight wickets in the tournament, and if someone has an off-day, KL Rahul can afford to bring another bowler in the place of the player, who is having an off-day. For example, we do see the likes of Bishnoi and Holder not bowling their full quota of overs,” added Jaffer.
