Luke Wright shows compassion for Mohammad Saifuddin after the latter got hit for 32 runs in an over

Bangladeshi bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin was left in shatters after Darren Sammy hit him for 32 runs in an over during the fixture between Rajshahi Kings and Comilla Victorians in the ongoing BPL 5. Fortune has not been on Saifuddin’s side, as recently he was hit for 5 sixes in a row by David Miller during their recently concluded South Africa tour.

Not soon enough did Saifuddin forget the nightmare than it haunted him back again. Sammy smashed four sixes in the final over that went for 32 runs. The bowler, who had the misfortune of sending down that over, now holds the unenviable record of conceding the most runs in an over in BPL history.

Opposition team Rajshahi Kings’ batsman Luke Wright believes although the speedster’s morale suffered a major hit, there’s nothing to crib about for just one over.

Speaking to the reporters after the match, Wright said, “It is actually tough for a bowler. After such an over it is always difficult to come back in that match. I hope he didn’t remember Miller’s over too. As a cricketer, there is no time to think of such things. Moreover, there is nothing to be sad for just one over. He will come back strongly I believe. Saif is a dedicated cricketer.”

Details of the final over

When Victorians skipper Tamim Iqbal threw Saifuddin the ball for the final over, it was in the hope that he could finish off a job well-started. Prior to the over, Saifuddin had figures of 3-0-18-3, but nothing could have prepared him for the onslaught he suffered at the hands of Sammy.

His first delivery to Sammy was a fuller ball that came into him, and all Sammy had to do was help it on its way to deep backward square leg. The rest of the over was a generous mix of fuller deliveries, or worse still, full tosses that were shoveled with brute force.
